Born in Philadelphia, PA to the Parents of Maria Olivia Cottman and Christin Mario Ashford on August 5th, 1988, Mario Christin Cottman was introduced to music at an early age as most children are.

At the age of 7 Mario was taught how to play drums by instructor Rev. Walls at Prince Hall Elementary School.

At the same school, when he became 9 years of age, he then learned to play the Cello.

Mario began writing poetry when he was about 13, inspired by his English teacher Mrs. Barnes at Ada Lewis Middle School.

    Mario's love for music was only shared with the people around him until he graduated high school and started college. His English professor Shewanda Riley listened to a song that he had turned in for a college project and she told him to not limit himself to single set goals, but to incorporate what he loved with his goals.

After his professor gave him that speech of encouragement to do what he was most passionate about, the rest became history.

    Mario no longer limited himself and he went after everything he had a passion for. Started and partnered on business ventures and music production. Mario began producing and featuring on albums and tracks for individuals and organizations such as Royal Art Studios, Phazzanation, Cole Beasley from the Dallas Cowboys, Big Tuck, The Carter High Soundtrack, S.O.C.O.M, Norris J, Shy Speaks, Jeremiah Tha Prophet, Nate Cottman, Counter Culture, and also had an opportunity to work with J. Paul, Da Truth (Emanuel Lambert), and many, many more.

    Mario Cottman purchased the rights to Royal Art Studios In April 2011. He began Royal Art Studios as a music production company but, over the years it has transformed into so much more. Royal Art and Royal Art Studios was just the beginning for this young man. He then Partnered with his cousin and helped to start Counter Culture​, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to feeding the homeless and helping those in need. As if Royal Art Studios and Counter Culture weren't enough, he then went on to publish a quote book (365 DAILY QUOTES FOR SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS) to help individuals become the best person that they could become, leave a legacy and Be Legendary.
